Voilà! Back from the Secret Nights Festival (“Festival des Nuits Secrètes”), that also rhymes with the first nights in our truck!
A shiny and melodious week-end that left only one principal thing in our minds: let’s go back on the road!!
So we start our trip on friday night, driving Tikal through the almost 300 kms in (only) 4:30 (dinner break included). Hoppefully, the Man repaired the speakers and we could “try” to mask the engine sound with some (loud) music. Yeah!!
Arrived at destination, we go for a reconnaissance of the festival premises, and drink a good beer, then we come back to the truck.
We leave the village, searching for a piece of nature to spend the night. We search. We pull away. Further (maybe too much?!), in the fields, that leads to… indeed “it’s cool”:
We finaly find a road through forest and we succeed to park. It’s 4:00 (in the morning). Let’s go to our first sleep in Tikal! It’s cosy (ok, the first expression was rather: “it’s a little bit small anyway”…) and we slept very well, because the bed has a real mattress.
Then at the morning, we have a nice suprise when, waking up by the sun’s rays, we open the door and see that:
First coffee under the sun (convivial, surrounded by wasps and horseflies) then some shopping and we go to lunch near the channel.
We continue directly with the festival and the saturday first concerts, waiting for Asaf Avidan and Deluxe!
Around one in the morning, knees down, sporty as we are, we take back the truck et go back to the forest for our second sleep in Tikal.
We still sleep as well, even if there’s some work to do inside!
Wake up, coffee and madeleines (today is total luxury):
With still a nice view:
And here we go for some shopping for our first barbecue with Tikal. After some adventure on a straight path (it’s now clear that the 4wd will be usefull!!) we arrive there :
We start to imagine ourselves in the huge Canadian forests or the South-American plains, preparing our lunchs near a wood fire… It will be top!!
The rosé wine done, and after starting to turn pink under the sun, we repack, direction the festival to see the Broken Circle Breakdown…
11:45PM, we’ll be completely tired tomorrow but it was so great!!! We’re slowly back to the truck and now leading to the house.
3AM we finally arrive. Back to work in few hours. We leave Tikal for a real bed…
We can’t wait for the next week-end!
